From theory to practice, from the classroom to project execution, we have embarked together on a remarkable journey of quality improvement!
Recently, the company successfully completed all sessions of its months-long Six Sigma training program. After intense competition among five project teams, outstanding teams were selected. This systematic training represents a key initiative by the company to address customer feedback and enhance quality management standards.
Training Background: Customer Demand-Driven
In today's highly competitive market environment, the company has been continuously iterating its products based on customer feedback and user experience. The steady increase in market share and positive customer evaluations have further reinforced our understanding that enhancing efficiency and quality is key to maintaining competitiveness. Six Sigma, as a powerful methodology for quality management and improvement, is increasingly becoming a vital tool for enterprises to strengthen their core competitiveness. Therefore, the company has decided to organize a Six Sigma Green Belt training program, aiming to cultivate a group of outstanding Six Sigma professionals who will serve as drivers and practitioners of continuous improvement within the organization.
Training Journey: Systematic Learning and Practice
The training program commenced in April 2025 and concluded in December, spanning nearly 8 months. It comprised 14 on-site sessions, each lasting one full day. The curriculum comprehensively covered all phases of the Six Sigma methodology:
·Define Phase: Project selection, customer needs analysis (CTQ), and project scope definition.
·Measure Phase: Fundamentals of data analysis, measurement system analysis (MSA), and current process analysis.
·Analyze Phase: Hypothesis testing, root cause analysis, and identification of improvement opportunities
·Improve Phase: Design of Experiments (DOE) and development of optimized solutions.
·Control Phase: Standardization, control plans, and sustaining the gains.
The training was led by seasoned experts who employed a blended approach of theoretical instruction and practical case studies. Through extensive case analysis and hands-on exercises, participants gained a deep understanding of Six Sigma concepts and methodologies.
Outcomes Showcase: Projects Put Theory to the Test
Throughout the training, five project teams undertook improvement initiatives targeting real-world operational challenges. Through phased reviews and a final presentation session, they demonstrated the tangible application and results of the Six Sigma methodology in their daily work.
Final Outcomes by Project Team:
Team 1: With an estimated investment of approximately 30,000 RMB, the project is projected to achieve annual cost savings of around 600,000 RMB. The product yield rate increased to 97.55%, successfully meeting the target of 90% acceptable rate.
Team 2: The production line speed increased by 40%, leading to a monthly capacity increase of 650,000 meters. The static payback period is 1.94 years. This project alleviates delivery pressure and enhances customer satisfaction.
Team 3: The product yield rate was improved from 70% to 80%. Based on a monthly demand of 100,000 meters, the project is expected to generate annual savings of approximately 294,000 RMB.
Team 4: The average yield rate for a specific product series was increased by 17.7% by mid-October. This improvement is estimated to contribute an additional profit of about 3.38 million RMB in the second half of the year.
Team 5: The defect rate for the project was reduced from a pre-improvement average of 6.11% to 1.48%. With an investment cost of about 60,000 RMB, the post-improvement financial benefit is projected to be approximately 726,000 RMB per year.
Meanwhile, based on the scores from the process and final presentations, a comprehensive evaluation was conducted considering each team's performance in phase exercises, assignment reviews, and overall project execution. This truly reflected the participants' mastery and application capabilities of the Six Sigma methodology. The top three outstanding teams were awarded cash incentives. Congratulations to all!
Congratulations to the First Prize team: All members of Project Team 1.
Congratulations to the Second Prize team: All members of Project Team 4.
Congratulations to the Third Prize team: All members of Project Team 2.
Future Outlook: Continuous Improvement Knows No End.
The Six Sigma training is not merely about knowledge transfer; it is also about sowing the seeds of a continuous improvement culture. The company hopes that every participant will apply the principles and methodologies of Six Sigma to every aspect of their daily work, fostering an environment of ongoing enhancement. This training also marks the formal implementation of the Six Sigma methodology within the company. Subsequently, Six Sigma certification will become a job qualification requirement for positions in engineering, quality, and R&D, opening new pathways for employees' career development.
The journey toward quality knows no end. Let us move forward together, using this training as a starting point to continuously drive quality improvement and process optimization within the company, and strive collectively to achieve our strategic goals!
